EDHA concern guide

Anger & Emotional Regulation

Anger is a normal emotion, but it can become difficult when reactions feel intense, frequent or harmful to relationships and decision-making. Counselling can help identify triggers and build more effective ways of responding.

People often seek support when...

  • Frequent irritability or angry outbursts
  • Regret after arguments or impulsive reactions
  • Conflict at home or work linked to anger
  • Difficulty calming down once activated

How counselling may help

  • Identify triggers and early warning signs
  • Build emotional-regulation and communication skills
  • Explore beliefs, stressors and relationship patterns
  • Practise alternative responses before conflict escalates

When other care may also be appropriate

If anger is linked to violence, immediate risk, severe substance use or an acute mental-health crisis, seek appropriate urgent or specialist support.

EDHA is not an emergency service. If there is immediate risk, seek urgent in-person help through local emergency services or the nearest hospital. Government of India Tele-MANAS is available 24x7 at 14416 or 1800-89-14416.
