EDHA concern guide

Stress & Burnout

Stress can build gradually until work, caregiving, study or personal responsibilities feel unmanageable. Burnout often involves exhaustion, detachment and reduced effectiveness.

People often seek support when...

  • Feeling constantly overwhelmed or unable to switch off
  • Emotional or physical exhaustion
  • Reduced motivation or growing cynicism
  • Work or personal demands affecting sleep, health or relationships

How counselling may help

  • Clarify sources of pressure and what can be changed
  • Build boundaries and recovery routines
  • Develop coping and prioritisation strategies
  • Address perfectionism, guilt or over-responsibility

When other care may also be appropriate

Persistent physical symptoms, severe sleep disruption or significant functional decline may also warrant medical evaluation alongside psychological support.
