EDHA concern guide

Family & Marital Concerns

Family and marital concerns often involve patterns built over time. Counselling can support clearer communication, boundaries and decision-making around recurring difficulties.

People often seek support when...

  • Frequent family or marital conflict
  • Boundary issues with relatives or extended family
  • Different expectations about roles, finances or parenting
  • Emotional distance or unresolved resentment

How counselling may help

  • Identify recurring patterns and triggers
  • Strengthen communication and boundary-setting
  • Clarify expectations and shared responsibilities
  • Support difficult decisions and adjustment

When other care may also be appropriate

Where there is violence, coercion or immediate safety risk, prioritise safety and specialist support rather than ordinary family or marital counselling.

EDHA is not an emergency service. If there is immediate risk, seek urgent in-person help through local emergency services or the nearest hospital. Government of India Tele-MANAS is available 24x7 at 14416 or 1800-89-14416.
