EDHA concern guide

Depression & Low Mood

Periods of low mood can affect motivation, energy, sleep, concentration, relationships and confidence. Professional support can help you understand what may be contributing and identify practical ways to move forward.

People often seek support when...

  • Low mood that persists or keeps returning
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in usual activities
  • Feeling hopeless, withdrawn or emotionally numb
  • Difficulty functioning at work, home or in relationships

How counselling may help

  • Explore contributing life events and patterns
  • Build routines and behavioural steps that support recovery
  • Work with unhelpful beliefs and self-criticism
  • Strengthen coping, connection and problem-solving

When other care may also be appropriate

If you have thoughts of self-harm or suicide, severe inability to function, psychotic symptoms or an immediate safety concern, seek urgent in-person or emergency care.

EDHA is not an emergency service. If there is immediate risk, seek urgent in-person help through local emergency services or the nearest hospital. Government of India Tele-MANAS is available 24x7 at 14416 or 1800-89-14416.
