Trauma is an emotional response to an unfortunate event experienced by an individual, at any phase of life. As it is an untoward incident, of any form or nature, the person indeed may go into a state of shock. Trauma (PTSD) is any disturbing experience that results in significant fear, helplessness, dissociation, confusion, or other disruptive feelings intense enough to have a long-lasting negative effect on a person’s attitudes, behavior, and other aspects of functioning.

Traumatic events include those caused by human behavior or by nature and natural events and often challenge an individual’s view of the world as a safe, and predictable place.

A consequence of the incidence can be shock and denial, typically. Longer-term reactions may include unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships, and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea. The incident and the associated thoughts and feelings may cause some people to have difficulty moving on in their lives.

Other Trauma related concern areas could be:

  • Overcoming fear
  • Overcoming phobias
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
